CLEAN ENERGY FOR BIO-ON'S NEW BIOPOLYMERS "FACTORY" THANKS TO A TRIGENERATION PLANT BUILT BY GRUPPO HERA
Bologna, 16 January 2018 - Bio-on, the leader in eco-sustainable chemical technologies, and Gruppo Hera, one of Italy's main multi-utility providers, have reached an agreement for the supply of clean energy thanks to the realisation and management of a new technological-energy hub that will house a newly designed trigeneration plant. The deal was signed by Bio-on S.p.A. with Hera Servizi Energia, a subsidiary of Gruppo HERA, and will guarantee clean electric energy for the new plant producing innovative biopolymers that Bio-on is currently constructing in Castel San Pietro Terme, outside Bologna.

BIO-ON HOSTED THE FINAL MEETING OF THE SEAFRONT, THE EU PROJECT DEDICATED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW GENERATION OF SELF-POLISHING COATINGS
Bologna, 09 January 2018 - Bio-on, the Italian biotechnology company leader in the bioplastic sector and listed in the AIM segment of the Borsa Italiana, organised last December the final event of the European project Synergistic Fouling Control Technologies - SEAFRONT.
In Bologna (Italy), for two days, 50 representatives of five multinationals, seven SMEs and seven research institutes spread across eight EU Member States presented and discussed the results achieved within the four-year project period in the development of environmentally friendly coatings which prevent the undesirable accumulation of marine organisms on boats, ships, tidal power plants and other aquatic installations.

BIO-ON: FROM THE MINISTRY OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT A GRANT OF 8 MILLION EUROS IN THE FRAME OF THE R&D PROJECTS FOR THE SUSTAINABLE INDUSTRY
Bologna, 21 December 2017 - The Ministry of Economic Development adopts in favour of the company Bio-on SpA, listed on the AIM segment of Borsa Italiana and a leading player in the new eco-sustainable chemical industry, the grant foreseen by the art . 7 of the D.M. 24 July 2015, under the fund for sustainable growth and based on the Revolving Fund for business support and investment in research, for the realization of the research and development project concerning «Development of innovative systems for the production of PHA biopolymers starting from agro-industrial wastes and by-products for sectors with a high added value» (BIOPLUS). Considering the positive evaluations of external experts, the MISE, through the Directoral Decree issued on 20/12/2017 determined for the BIOPLUS project an amount of total cost eligible for funding of 8,661,166.67 euros, the financing is granted as follows:
  1. a direct contribution to the cost as non-repayable loan of €. 1,299,175.00.
  2. a subsidized soft loan of € 6,062,816.00.

Kartell is a symbolic Made in Italy company: experimentation with new technologies and an innovative use of plastics have always formed the basis of its products, and the challenge facing both Bio-on and Kartell today is to accelerate the development of organic electronics based on Bio-on's technologies in order to gain a leadership position in this new sector. Research in this field of application is already being conducted at Bio-on laboratories and the first results are expected in 2018.

BIO-ON BECOMES PART OF MSCI WORLD SMALL CAP INDEX
Bologna, 5 December 2017 - Bio-on, listed on the AIM segment of Borsa Italiana and one of the main players in the new eco-sustainable chemical industry, announces that from 1st December 2017 Bio on stock is listed on the MSCI World Small Cap Index.
This index, created by Morgan Stanley Capital International, represents 4,263 companies from 23 developed countries. The companies within the index are 55.44% from the USA, followed by 12.32% from Japan and 7.42% from the United Kingdom.
The most-represented sector on the index with 18.22% is industrial, followed by Information Technology (14.49%) and the financial sector (13.6%). In recent years, the MSCI World Small Cap Index has offered investors an annualized return of 10.8% in a three-year time frame, 13.81% in a five-year time frame and 6.73% in a ten-year time frame.

BIO-ON COMPLETES CONSTRUCTION OF THE WORLD'S LARGEST FERMENTERS FOR PHAS BIOPLASTIC PRODUCTION
Bologna, 8 November 2017 - Bio-on, listed on the AIM segment of BorsaItaliana and one of the main players in the new eco-sustainable chemical industry, proudly announces the completion of the fermenters that are at the heart of the production technology for 100% biodegradable and natural bioplastic at the Bio-on plant set to open next year. This big technological challenge has enabled the world's largest fermenters to be built with a capacity of over 100 thousand litres and a height of over 13 metres. These large "silos" will house the fermentation process in which bacteria "produce" PHAs bioplastic.

MILAN, 22 September 2017 - Every year, approximately 8 million tons of plastic ends up in the seas across the planet*; pieces as large as entire ships; fragments a few centimetres long eaten by birds and fish; microscopic particles that enter the food chain, including our own. It is an enormous problem not only for the marine environment, the consequences of which are not yet fully understood and about which much more awareness is needed. The studies by Nikolai Maximenko and Jan Hafner, researchers at the International Pacific Research Center (School of Ocean & Earth Science & Technology) at the University of Hawaii, are decisive in understanding how these immense quantities of plastic move around the oceans.

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS OF NEW BIO-ON PLANT FOR SPECIAL BIOPLASTICS PRODUCTION.

BIO-ON AND GREENERGY FOCUS ON THE UK TO PRODUCE BIOPLASTIC FROM BIODIESEL CO-PRODUCT GLYCEROL
BOLOGNA, 16th March 2017 - Bio-on and Greenergy International Limited have signed an agreement to begin a technical collaboration, the first in the United Kingdom, to look at the possibility of producing PHAs bioplastic from Glycerol, a biodiesel production co-product. The two companies will work together to establish the feasibility of building in the United Kingdom a 5-thousand ton per year plant expandable to 10 thousand tons per year. «This would be northern Europe's most advanced plant producing PHAs biopolymers from glycerol»; says Marco Astorri, Chairman and CEO of Bio-on.

BOLOGNA 14/02/2017 - Bio-on has gained a place in the final of the European Business Awards (EBA), the most important and prestigious awards for successful businesses in Europe, and must now tackle the last stage of the selection process, which ends on 4 May when the winners are announced. The organisation, sponsored by RSM, has awarded Bio-on the Ruban d'Honneur in the "Entrepreneur of the Year" category. Bio-on is one of 110 finalists selected from over 33,000 companies participating in the first stage of the EBA and was chosen by an independent panel of jurors as displaying the award's core values: innovation, ethics and success.
